Bishop Ighalo Conquers Lagos With A Touch From Heaven

By Perekeme Odon

Lagos super-church, A Touch From Heaven Ministries (ATFHM), lived up to its bill with an incredible congregation of Christians in the metropolis of Agege when they held their annual evangelism programme on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Bishop Dr Joseph Ighalo Edoro

The one-day capacity filled event with the theme, “A Touch From Heaven,” which took place at the Ifako Mini Stadium, by Ifako General Hospital, in Agege, Lagos State, was attended by people from around the world, streamed and watched online the Internet by many more,

The one-day crusade, which attracted an unprecedented population overflown from all walks of life who turned out in their numbers to receive divine power from the anointed man of God, Bishop Dr Joseph Ighalo Edoro, alongside leading bishops and pastors with sparkling eyes in attendance was filled with exciting evidence of what God has been doing,

Just as biblical Apostle Paul desired the salvation of Israel, General Overseer, A Touch From Heaven Ministries, Bishop Dr Joseph Ighalo Edoro, in his pre-crusade media chat, declared that the crusade would be one of the largest in global history in terms of human lives affected.

The programme, which was divinely ordered for the Holy Spirit's infilling, gave worshipers another chance to seek God's face in prayer, bodily healing, freedom from addiction, the fruit of the womb, breaking of curses, liberation from demonic oppression, and foodstuff to all participants.

“Today is the right and acceptable day, and no matter what, lives would be touched. The whole world is going to experience it and people are going to hook up. The word of God is quick, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword piercing. It’s going to be a turnaround for very many people. God will prove Himself today, as it’s going to be a touch from heaven where the unimaginable happens.”

He went further to say. “Today we are going to experience another dimension of this programme. Every participant coming from outside Lagos will be taken care of, foodstuff will be distributed to every participant, and widows are going to be fully attended to.”

Apostle Dr Bolaji O. Akinyemi

Dr Henry Emeka Obidi, ordained Pastor of Divine Christ City Church, Nollywood Producer/Director, and former Project Director of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, spiritually ushered in the event, which began at 10:58 am, as Dr Bolaji O. Akinyemi, Convener of Apostolic Round Table Conference of The Voice Of His Word Ministries, delivered the opening prayer to flag off the event.

Bishop Ighalo prophesied Nigeria's deliverance from its many challenges and gave clear and passionate gospel presentations with new converts making documented decisions to follow Christ. He also revealed how God led him to Nigeria because he (God) “has something special for Nigeria and Lagos in particular.”

Ighalo, who has become well-known in Lagos for his humanitarian and charity efforts, declared that God instructed him to establish this annual crusade for emancipation after recognising the difficulties and hurdles that the world, particularly Nigerians, face in their souls. He urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, as well as citizens, including political leaders, to embrace honesty, stating, “righteousness exalt a nation.”

Arch. Bishop Olufemi Bankole

“It is a thing of joy to organize this annual crusade after preaching the gospel of Christ all over the world. We realize that this is a difficult time for the whole world, particularly Nigerians. A lot of states in Nigeria asked us to come to them but we decided to choose Lagos because the Holy Spirit has directed us here.” Ighalo stated

The Edo state born clergy, as with every crusade, felt the Lord's healing touch, prayed in Jesus' name for those in need of healing and urged them to come to the platform to tell their new testimony while widows, single women, single moms, and people, in general, were given presents and food.

The Ifako-Agege Crusade is a testimony to the extraordinary “evangelism infrastructure” A Touch Of Heaven ministries has built over the past few years. For three weeks before the official start, the ATFH Evangelism team and volunteers worked tirelessly in the streets of Lagos and its surrounding communities. They preached and drummed from ATFH ‘Gospel Trucks’ and spent time evangelizing in marketplaces to create awareness.

Bishop Dr. Oliver Praise

This year’s crusade featured ministrations from divinely blessed and gifted gospel ministers such as Arch. Bishop Olufemi Bankole, Bishop Dr Mark Oturu, Bishop Dr. Oliver Praise, Rev. Dr Idorenyin Johnson, Apostle Sam Charles, and the only lady minister, Rev. Mrs Joy Osawaru-Akinyemi. The music ministration featured Dr Funmi Andrews, Yemi Davis, J . J Praise, and The Voice of Salvation Choir.

The astounding crowd included prominent church leaders and Nollywood celebrity, Mr Tony Akposheri (Zaky of New Masquerade) who were present to benefit from the healing session. All in all, it was another high-water mark for the more than 10-year-old ministry and a vital reminder that God’s heart still beats to see the lost come home to Him.

PVC Naija Initiative Offers Psychological Assistance to Ukrainian War Evacuees

By Perekeme Odon

A two-day psychological trauma clinic for Ukraine returnees has been launched in Abuja in an effort to assuage the terrible suffering of Nigerian returnees from Ukraine. The programme, an initiation of Project Victory Call Initiative, also known as PVC-Naija, would be reproduced across the country's six geographic zones.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) is coordinating it in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

Dr Bolaji O. Akinyemi, Convener/ President of Project Victory Call Initiative (PVC-Naija Initiative) and the project's initiator, said at the opening ceremony on Thursday at the State House Auditorium, Presidential Villa, that trauma evaluation and therapy became necessary because “when we have events that expose individuals to trauma, it is better that we nip them in the bud and that was what informed the idea of this project”.

Dr Akinyemi emphasised the importance of the program's prompt creation, stating that trauma has resulted in mental and socio-psychological issues. He commended the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, the National Commissioner for NCFRMI, and the entire team for the program's initiative, and applauded both organisations for their quick response in embracing the initiative.

"I believe that you will get the needed help," Dr Akinyemi said, encouraging the returnees to open up during sessions with the experts, stating, "We're trusting that we will take this to all the regions so that people won't have to travel to get this." He also informed the returnees that the PVC Initiative's services would be free and available to any and all returnees at no expense to the government.

NIDCOM CEO, Hon. Dr Dabiri-Erewa commended Dr Akinyemi’s effort that stating, “The passion with which he said we must do this for them, I agreed with him completely.”

The NiDCOM boss stated that she immediately contacted the Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim who said, “We must do this as quickly as possible.”

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa also expressed her displeasure with the profiling and imprisonment of Nigerians and other Africans in Polish detention centres, saying that it is highly “unacceptable and reprehensible.”

She noted that, despite President Mohammadu Buhari's efforts to ensure that Nigerians caught up in the conflict returned home, some chose to remain in countries such as Poland, stressing that the most appropriate action for Poland to take would be to return them to their countries rather than detain them in tortuous detention centres.

Dr Bolaji Akinyemi, President, PVC Naija

The NiDCOM chief confirmed that the two-day clinic was only the beginning of what will be an ongoing exercise across the country's six geopolitical zones. NiDCOM has also collaborated with The Sunshine Series to provide a 24-hour helpline (#112) for returnees in need of counselling.

“We tend to ignore our mental health but mental health is key." Says Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Federal Commissioner, Refugees Commission.  “As Nigerians, we have a lot of resilience we have that ability, but not everybody has the same threshold when it comes to resilience and hence the need for this particular platform so that those that need extra support or extra care and assistance, can be able to access it”.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Hajiya Sulaiman-Ibrahim stressed the importance of offering psychosocial therapy for the returnees through her agency, NCFRMI, which is the government's primary organ for rehabilitation, relocation, integration, and psychosocial support is the heart of rehabilitation in Nigeria.

She stated that NCFRMI has offices in 14 different locations and that they are willing to make their offices available to ensure that the Project Victory Call Initiative (PVC) team and academic specialists collaborate to make this counselling available to returnees.

Mr Fehintola Damilola Moses, President of Nigerian Students in Ukraine, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa and the team of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Nigerian Ambassador to Ukraine Shina Feege, Nigerian diaspora organizations, NGOs and all other government agencies for their quick response and rescue of the students from Ukraine.

He described how horrible the situation was and recalled the terrifying experiences that most of the returnees had during the war between Russia and Ukraine. From spending nights in an insufficient bunker without power to being racially profiled in some cases to facing food scarcity and having to travel for days without stopping in order to escape the war. "We had to boil snow to drink the water due to a lack of water," he explained.

The Vice-Chancellor, Senate, and Management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto and the University of Jos released experts assembled by PVC-Naija for psychological trauma evaluation and counselling.

Dr. Abdulsalam Halimatu Sa'adiya, Dr. Mustapha Ahmad, Dr. Attahiru Abusufyan, Prof. Mufutau Yunusa, and Mrs. Moses Unongu of the NCFRMI are among the experts.
