The Retreat of Choba Academic
Research Initiative (CARI), which was held from Friday, May 19th, to Sunday,
May 21st, 2023, at Owerri, can be appraised as a resounding success. The
retreat was well attended by members of the organisation, who came together to
discuss key issues affecting the organisation and chart the way forward.
One of the highlights
of the retreat was the extraordinary plenary session, which was presided over
by the Chairman, Dr. Gift Worlu, who facilitated a productive discussion on
issues concerning the welfare of members. During this session, members unanimously
agreed on a number of issues, including the need to establish an investment
blueprint that will benefit members in the long run. This decision was informed
by the recognition that investment is a critical aspect of achieving long-term
sustainability for the organisation. The session also facilitated a productive
discussion on other key issues relating to the overall mission of CARI.
Another significant
feature of the retreat was the "Walk for Life" event, which
underscored the organisation's focus on promoting the health and well-being of
its members. Participants in the event walked for miles to raise awareness
about the importance of physical fitness and healthy living. The "Walk for
Life" event was a highly commendable initiative that demonstrated the
organisation's commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle amongst
its members.
The retreat also
received tremendous support in the form of special donations from Mr. Joe Cole,
Prof. P. C. Mmom, Mr. Innocent Ekwulo, Prof. Otu Ekpeyong, and Dr. Josiah Hart.
These donations are a testament to the value that the organisation is bringing
to the academic and research communities and the positive impact it is having.
These contributions reflect the level of commitment shown by members of the
organisation’s community towards promoting academic research.
Additionally, it is
worth noting that the former Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof.
B. C. Didia, graced the event, adding to the significance of the Retreat of
Choba Academic Research Initiative (CARI).
Overall, the Retreat
of Choba Academic Research Initiative (CARI) was a great success. Through the
retreat, the organisation demonstrated its commitment to fostering
collaboration, advocating for healthy living, and promoting academic
excellence. The commitment shown towards investment and a focus on long-term
sustainability ensure that the organisation will continue to deliver impactful
research to the community. The retreat was an important moment for CARI, and
its accomplishments will serve as a launching pad for more innovative and
ground-breaking research initiatives in the future.
