Choba Academic Research Initiative (CARI) Launches Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society

The Choba Academic Research Initiative (CARI) recently concluded its highly anticipated bi-annual strategic retreat at the scenic Ibeno LGA in Akwa-Ibom State from the 13th to the 15th of October 2023. This retreat, which brought together a diverse group of respected individuals, including academics, industry leaders, politicians, and civil servants, was an outstanding success, marked by several significant highlights that will shape the future of CARI and its endeavours.

A pivotal moment during the retreat was the momentous unveiling of the "CHOBA ACADEMIC RESEARCH INITIATIVE (CARI) MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY."  This visionary cooperative aims to harness the potential of research-backed interventions to solve pressing societal challenges and propel sustainable development. The launch of this cooperative was met with enthusiasm and optimism from the attendees, as it represents a landmark step towards making a tangible impact in various sectors.

Adding further value to the retreat experience, Dr Josiah Hart, a distinguished academic from the Department of Anatomy at the esteemed University of Port Harcourt, delivered an enlightening lecture on wealth creation. Dr. Hart unveiled insightful perspectives on how individuals can navigate the complex landscape of financial prosperity, offering practical tips and strategies to create and sustain wealth. This thought-provoking lecture, held against the picturesque backdrop of Ibeno Beach, left participants inspired and equipped with valuable knowledge.

Hon. Gift Onyinye Worlu, PhD, Chairman of CARI, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the CARIans for their wholehearted support and participation, which contributed to the resounding success of the retreat. He commended the resilience and progressive spirit demonstrated throughout the event and acknowledged the significance of financial well-being in the lives of educated individuals. Hon. Worlu emphasised that economic well-being should not be determined solely by income but by prudent management and the ability to utilise resources effectively.

Highlighting CARI's commitment to inclusivity and growth, Chairman Worlu, also announced their intention to open the cooperative to the investing public soon. This exciting move will provide a valuable opportunity for individuals outside CARI to benefit from the organisation's expertise and collaborative efforts.

The retreat was not solely focused on formal sessions and lectures. Participants were treated to various life-enriching activities such as sightseeing, fostering connections, and wining and dining at the picturesque Ibeno Beach. These moments of relaxation and camaraderie allowed participants to unwind, recharge, and deepen their relationships, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment within CARI.

In addition to the celebratory moments, CARI members recognised the gravity of the humanitarian crises plaguing various parts of the world. Participants took a moment to offer prayers for resolving conflicts, particularly the Israel-Hamas war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This sincere gesture demonstrated CARI's compassion and global perspective, as its members stand united against violence and advocate for peace.

The strategic retreat concluded by presenting the progress report 2023 and setting an ambitious agenda for 2024. With their collective dedication, expertise, and resolve, CARI continues to excel in its research mission for sustainable development. The association looks forward to a future filled with meaningful collaborations, transformative initiatives, and positive societal contributions.
